i was contemplating one of my all time favorite villans, Carnage, on the way home today, when i realized something:
Carnage is a completely primal sort of villan. He's portrayed as all Id, a completely selfish psychopath that kills people for no reason other than his own perverted pleasure.
But tonight, in my typical fashion of approaching villans' characters from a sympathetic standpoint, i realized that people aren't just born psychopaths, it takes a precise combination of genes and environment to ruin someone's mind that way. The result is that Carnage, like any psychopath, is dissociated from reality, and he's really just killing people right and left because it's really, really good therapy for him.
